Volunteer Opportunity – Westbourne Shop

Julia’s House Children’s Hospice, supporting families across Dorset and Wiltshire, is looking for volunteers to join the team at our Westbourne charity shop.

Our shops are an essential part of raising funds for children with complex and life-limiting conditions. The generosity and time given by volunteers help us continue providing vital care and support to local families.

We have a range of roles available depending on what you enjoy most:

Stock Room Support
Help behind the scenes by sorting through donated items, steaming clothing, tagging products, and preparing stock ready to be displayed on the shop floor.

Cash Desk Support
Assist customers at the till, provide friendly service, share information about Julia’s House, and help create a welcoming shopping experience.

We welcome volunteers throughout the week, Monday to Saturday, with the following typical shifts:
  • Morning shift: 9:30am – 1:00pm
  • Afternoon shift: 1:00pm – 4:30pm

  • We aim to be as flexible as possible, so please speak with us about your availability. Even a few hours a week can make a real difference.

Volunteering offers many personal benefits, including boosting confidence, reducing stress, learning new skills, and meeting new people in your community.

No previous experience is required – we provide all the training and support you’ll need.

    What we’re looking for:
  • Friendly and approachable attitude
  • Good communication skills
  • Polite and welcoming manner
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Reliability and commitment

  • Benefits of volunteering:
  • Full training and opportunities to learn new skills
  • Valuable experience for your CV
  • Increased confidence and wellbeing
  • A chance to meet new people
  • A fun and supportive environment
  • The opportunity to support children and families in your local community

Thank you for considering volunteering with Julia’s House. Your time and support can make a meaningful difference to the children and families we care for.
