Valiant Homes Ltd provides supported accommodation for young people aged 16–18 who are developing independence and preparing for adult life.

Our role is to provide a safe, supportive environment where young people can build confidence, life skills and stability.

We are looking for reliable, compassionate Support Workers who want to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people.

The Role

As a Support Worker you will provide day-to-day support to young people living in our supported accommodation service.

This includes helping them develop practical life skills, ensuring their wellbeing, and maintaining a safe and supportive home environment.

This is a rewarding role suited to someone who is calm, responsible and able to build positive relationships with young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting young people aged 16–18 with day-to-day living
  • Encouraging independence and life skills (cooking, budgeting, routines)
  • Conducting welfare checks and being available for guidance and support
  • Maintaining clear and accurate daily notes
  • Supporting house routines and maintaining a safe environment
  • Responding calmly to challenging situations when they arise
  • Working positively with colleagues and external professionals

  • Working Hours

    Typical shift patterns include:

    Morning support:

    07:00 – 10:00

    Evening support:

    18:00 – 23:00

    Weekend availability is helpful but not essential.

    Some flexibility for daytime tasks or meetings may occasionally be required.

    We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to provide high-quality care and support to young people aged 16–18 in supported accommodation. The successful candidate will play a vital role in fostering a safe, nurturing environment, promoting independence, and assisting with daily living tasks.     Duties
  • Offer emotional and practical support tailored to individual needs, encouraging independence and self-confidence.
  • Assist with daily activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and household chores.
  • Support young people with behaviour management strategies, promoting positive interactions.
  • Administer medication following prescribed protocols and maintain accurate records.
  • Provide first aid when necessary and respond appropriately to emergencies.
  • Facilitate engaging activities that promote social skills and personal development.
  • Assist with transportation needs, including driving young people to appointments or activities as required.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents by adhering to health and safety policies and safeguarding procedures.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of care provided and any incidents or concerns.

  • Requirements
  • Experience or knowledge in assisted living, patient care, nursing home environments, or dementia care is desirable.
  • Previous experience in caregiving roles such as home care, senior care, hospice care, or childcare is advantageous.
  • Relevant skills include medication administration, behaviour management, first aid certification, and driving licence.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and carry out meal preparation tasks efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with young people.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals' development.
