Senior Manager - Electrical
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities 1. Engineering & Design Management
  • Lead detailed engineering of 132 kV / 220 kV / 400 kV switchyard systems for thermal power plants.
  • Review and approve SLDs, GA drawings, protection schemes, cable schedules, and BOQs.
  • Ensure design compliance with IEC, IEEE, CEA, CBIP, IS codes, and project specifications.
  • Coordinate with EPC consultants, OEMs, and internal teams for design optimization.
  • 2. Project Execution & Commissioning
  • Plan and supervise switchyard erection, installation, and testing activities.
  • Ensure quality workmanship in GIS/AIS installation, CT/PT erection, circuit breakers, isolators, and busbar systems.
  • Oversee commissioning of protection systems, SCADA, PLCC, BCU, and relay panels.
  • Drive adherence to project timelines, cost control, and risk mitigation.
  • 3. Operations & Maintenance
  • Develop and implement preventive & predictive maintenance programs.
  • Troubleshoot and rectify faults in switchyard equipment and protection relays.
  • Lead root‑cause analysis for major system disturbances.
  • Ensure zero‑downtime operations and maximum availability.
  • 4. Safety, Compliance & Documentation
  • Ensure compliance with CEA safety regulations, electrical safety rules, and statutory norms.
  • Conduct safety audits, LOTO compliance checks, and hazard assessments.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for inspections, clearances, and regulatory submissions.
  • 5. Vendor, Contractor & Stakeholder Management
  • Evaluate technical proposals, negotiate with vendors, and monitor contractor performance.
  • Conduct FATs/SATs at OEM facilities.
  • Coordinate with government bodies, load dispatch centers, and inspection agencies.
  • 6. Team Leadership
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
  • Drive competency development, safety culture, and performance management.

  • Qualifications
    Educational Qualifications
  • B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university (Mandatory).
  • M.E./M.Tech in Power Systems / High Voltage Engineering (Preferred).
  • Certifications in Protection Systems, SCADA, Project Management (PMP/Prince2) will be an added advantage.
  • Experience Requirements
  • 12–18 years of experience in electrical systems within thermal power projects or large‑scale power infrastructure.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of hands‑on involvement in HV/EHV switchyard (132/220/400 kV) engineering, commissioning, or O&M.
