Job Title: SEN Youth Mentor

Location: BH7, Bournemouth

Pay: £20-25 per hour

Hours: Part-time, Mon-Fri, 2-4pm (2 hours daily, 10 hours a week, with option for more)

Contract: Flexible daytime hours

About the Role:

We are seeking a patient, confident and engaging SEN Youth Mentor to work 1:1 with a Year 5 student in BH7. The young person presents with Autism Spectrum Condition, with a referral pending for ADHD. He requires support with communication, emotional regulation, and developing social understanding, while also benefiting from structured, calm, and motivating activities.

You will work with him in the afternoons to build self-calming strategies, improve turn taking, help him tolerate peers in shared spaces, and strengthen receptive/expressive language skills. He engages well when activities are linked to his interests - such as cars, planes, building airports, rollerblading, drones, and swimming - and responds positively to firm but supportive boundaries.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Provide structured 1:1 mentoring focused on emotional regulation and communication
  • Support engagement through interest-based activities
  • Help the student develop self-management, focus, and confidence
  • Model positive behaviour and promote social understanding
  • Provide a calm, predictable and reassuring environment
  • Liaise with the team regarding progress and any concerns

  • Who We're Looking For:
  • Minimum 2 year's experience supporting young people with SEN/SEMH
  • Skilled at managing behaviour with calm, consistent approaches
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Patient, resilient, and able to adapt to the young person's needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Driving licence and Business Insurance
