The Supply Room are proud to be working exclusively with a unique and inspiring alternative provision in the heart of central Bournemouth, and we are currently seeking multiple Mentors to join their passionate team!

This specialist provision supports children and young people who are awaiting specialist school placements or who are struggling to access mainstream education settings. Through mentoring, personal development coaching, and highly personalised programmes, the provision helps young people rebuild confidence, develop essential life skills, and successfully transition back into more formal education environments.

This is a term time only role, Monday-Friday 09:00 - 15:30 requiring an immediate start.

About the Provision

This vibrant, community-focused setting provides a safe and engaging environment for young people with a range of additional needs including:
  • ADHD
  • Autism (ASD)
  • Attachment Disorders
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
  • Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)
  • Anxiety
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Trauma-related needs

  • Young people follow individualised timetables and programmes, designed around their EHCP targets and outcomes, helping them develop social, emotional, and personal skills at their own pace.

  • Sensory rooms

  • Pupil-led kitchen
  • Editing, costume making and creative workshop
  • Mechanic workshop

    The Role

    As a Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting young people both emotionally and socially, helping them engage with their personalised programmes and achieve their individual goals.

    Your responsibilities will include:
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH, trauma-related needs, Autism and behavioural needs
  • Delivering mentoring and personal development support
  • Encouraging participation in activities that promote confidence, resilience and social interaction
  • Supporting young people in working towards their EHCP outcomes
  • Helping create a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment
  • Working closely with a supportive and collaborative team

  • The Ideal Candidate

    We are looking for someone who brings energy, empathy and enthusiasm to the role.

    You may have experience as a:
  • Learning Mentor
  • Teaching Assistant
  • Youth Worker
  • Support Worker
  • Behaviour Mentor
  • SEN Practitioner

  • Essential qualities:
  • Experience mentoring or supporting children, young people or adults with learning disabilities or additional needs
  • Good understanding of Autism (ASD)
  • Ability to build strong, positive relationships with young people
  • Calm, patient and adaptable approach
  • Great sense of humour and a bubbly personality
  • Passion for making a genuine difference in young people's lives

  • Highly desirable:
  • Experience supporting SEMH needs
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice
  • Understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning approaches
