Duties and Responsibilities of Heavy Vehicle Driver – KRISAT
  • Operation of the 3 College Buses
  • Safely operate the KRISAT buses used for student and staff transportation.
  • Daily Vehicle Inspection
  • Conduct daily checks before operating the buses.
  • Inspect engine oil, coolant, brake oil, clutch oil, and power steering oil levels.
  • Check tyres, tyre pressure, brakes, headlights, indicators, horn, and wipers.
  • Ensure adequate fuel is available before trips.
  • Maintenance of Buses
  • Be responsible for the upkeep of the three KRISAT buses (30-seater to 70-seater, single axle).
  • Monitor the condition of engines, filters, belts, and other critical components.
  • Change engine oil, air filters, fuel filters, and other consumables with service centre when required.
  • Coordinate with mechanics and ensure that servicing is completed properly.
  • Record Keeping
  • Maintain a record of servicing, repairs, oil changes, and parts replacement for each bus.
  • Ensure vehicle documents such as insurance, fitness certificate, registration, and pollution certificate are valid and up to date.
  • Cleanliness and Upkeep
  • Ensure buses are kept clean both inside and outside.
  • Periodically inspect seats, windows, and interior fittings.
  • Maintenance of Campus Machinery
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining the condition of the JCB, tractor, and other farm machinery used on campus.
  • Report service requirements and coordinate maintenance when needed.
  • Oversee the maintenance of power tools, lawn mowers, and other mechanical equipment used for campus maintenance.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained in working condition.
  • As a stay-on-campus driver, the driver will be provided accommodation and food by the college.
  • The driver must be available for late-night or emergency transport needs of students or staff, such as medical emergencies or urgent travel.
  • Such emergency duties are expected to be rare but the driver must remain reachable when required.
  • Report any accidents, mechanical faults, or safety concerns immediately to the college administration.
  • Support for Campus Activities
  • Assist with transport or equipment movement required for farm operations, campus maintenance, or college events when necessary.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
