Role Title: Subject Matter Expert – Banking, Mortgage & Pensions

1. Core Responsibilities
  • Domain Leadership: Serve as the definitive authority on the end-to-end Mortgage lifecycle (Origination to Servicing) and Retail Banking products (Savings, Current Accounts, and Lending).
  • Pension Integration: Oversee the intersection of banking services and pension products (e.g., SIPP/SSAS integration, annuity payments, or pension-backed lending), ensuring compliance with retirement age regulations and tax implications.
  • Systems & Tools Mastery: Act as the functional lead for domain-specific platforms—think Loan Origination Systems (LOS), Core Banking Platforms (e.g., Temenos, Finacle), and Pension Administration software.
  • Operational Troubleshooting: Recommend systemic bottlenecks in back-office operations. SME aren't just spotting the fire; but redesigning the building to be future ready.
  • Collateral Development: Transform complex regulatory or technical workflows into high-impact "Capability Collateral"—white papers, "Point of View" (PoV) documents and sales decks support.

  • 2. Key Expectations
  • Strategic Problem Solving: You should be able to look at a 15% drop in mortgage processing efficiency and pinpoint whether it’s a tool lag, a regulatory hurdle, or a training gap.
  • Regulatory Fluency: Maintain a "live" map of the regulatory landscape (like FCA, PRA, or GDPR) and how these rules ripple through retail and pension operations.
  • Cross-Functional Bridge: Ability to translate "bank-speak" for technical developers and "tech-speak" for the C-suite or sales teams.
  • Content Excellence: The collateral you build shouldn't just be informative; it should be persuasive. It needs to prove that the organization understands the client's "pain" better than the client does.
