The School of Law, Governance and Public Policy (SLGPP), Chanakya University, Bengaluru invites applications from distinguished scholars and experienced academics for the position of Professor of Law.

SLGPP seeks individuals who combine academic excellence, intellectual leadership, and institutional commitment to contribute to the growth of a vibrant interdisciplinary law and public policy ecosystem. The position places strong emphasis on scholarly research, mentorship of students and early-career faculty, and leadership in building innovative academic programmes.

About the School

The School of Law, Governance and Public Policy at Chanakya University is committed to advancing interdisciplinary legal education, policy research, and institutional innovation in India. The School integrates perspectives from law, governance, public policy, international relations, and development studies, preparing students to engage with complex contemporary challenges in law and society.

Role and Responsibilities

The Professor of Law will be expected to:
  • Provide academic leadership in teaching, research, and curriculum development.
  • Mentor undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students, and guide early-career faculty in their research and teaching trajectories.
  • Develop and lead research initiatives, funded projects, and collaborative academic networks at national and international levels.
  • Contribute to institution-building, including programme design, academic governance, and strategic initiatives of the School.
  • Teach and develop courses in areas aligned with the School’s priorities, which may include:
  • Constitutional Law and Jurisprudence
  • Law and Public Policy
  • Technology, Regulation and Governance
  • International Law and Global Governance
  • Law, Development and Sustainability
  • Support experiential learning initiatives such as moot courts, policy labs, research clinics, and interdisciplinary seminars.

  • Eligibility and Qualifications

    Applicants should possess:
  • A PhD in Law or a closely related discipline from a recognized university.
  • A distinguished record of scholarly publications in reputed journals/books and evidence of sustained research engagement.
  • At least 10-15 years of teaching and research experience in a university or research institution.
  • Demonstrated experience in academic leadership, mentoring students and faculty, and developing research programmes.
  • Evidence of national or international academic engagement, including collaborations, projects, or policy contributions.
