Job Description

General Summary of role: Wai Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Principal AI Engineer to drive the planning, implementation, and scaling of AI initiatives within the organization. As the technical and creative expert, you will bridge the gap between our team’s AI knowledge and practical applications, translating business needs into effective AI solutions.

This role involves strategic planning, system design, algorithm development, training machine learning models, and optimizing performance. You will also mentor and train the team to meet customer demands, ensuring that AI solutions are aligned with Wai's AI roadmap and business goals

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• AI Solution Design & Implementation:Lead the design, implementation, and support of AI solutions on Microsoft Azure, ensuring they meet business objectives and align with the AI roadmap.
• Full AI Development Cycle Ownership:Manage the entire machine learning development cycle for AI features in projects, including Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs) around Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, and Natural Language Processing (NLP).
• Innovation & Research: Drive AI innovation and research within the organization, staying at the forefront of emerging AI technologies and methodologies.
• Strategic AI Planning:Play a key role in shaping the company's AI strategy and vision, aligning AI initiatives with broader business goals.
• Project Leadership:Lead high-impact AI projects and initiatives, ensuring successful delivery and implementation.
• Team Mentorship: Mentor senior engineers and architects, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
• AI Model Optimization:Develop strategies to maintain, improve, and optimize AI models and algorithms, ensuring they deliver high performance.
• Client Engagement:Participate in client meetings, explaining AI solutions to non-technical stakeholders, and ensuring transparency and alignment with client expectations.
• AI Infusion in Products:Identify opportunities to infuse AI into existing and new client applications and products, driving innovation and competitive advantage.

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required:

• Minimum 6 years of experience in software engineering in a lead capacity.
• At least 4 years of experience in AI/ML/DL.
• Thought Leadership: Demonstrated thought leadership in AI and cloud computing, with a proven track record of successful AI project implementations.

Technical Expertise:

• Strong hands-on experience with Python.
• Expertise in deep learning areas such as Computer Vision, NLP, and Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Proficiency in AI and machine learning concepts, particularly within the Azure ecosystem (e.g., Azure Machine Learning, Cognitive Services).
• Problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex problems and devise effective AI solutions.
• Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.
• Client Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.

Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations:

Good to have Skills:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-900)
• Microsoft Certified: Designing and Implementing a Microsoft Azure AI Solution (AI-102)
• Other advanced AI certifications.
