Job Summary

The Planning Engineer (Civil) is responsible for project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting for civil construction projects. The role ensures that project timelines are properly developed, tracked, and updated to support timely completion while coordinating with site teams and management.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare baseline project schedules using planning software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
• Develop detailed work breakdown structures (WBS) and activity sequencing for civil construction activities.
• Monitor project progress and update schedules regularly.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for management and clients.
• Identify potential delays, risks, and critical path activities and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate with site engineers, procurement team, and project managers for accurate progress tracking.
• Conduct resource planning (manpower, materials, equipment) to support project timelines.
• Track planned vs actual progress and analyze schedule variances.
• Assist in preparation of look-ahead schedules (2-week / 3-week planning).
• Maintain project documentation related to planning and scheduling.
• Support preparation of EOT (Extension of Time) claims and delay analysis if required.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience in construction planning and scheduling.
• Strong knowledge of project scheduling tools like Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
• Good understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing.
• Proficiency in Excel and reporting tools.
