  • Organizational Overview:

    Controllership organization within Finance COE responsible to monitor day-to-day accounting activities involved in Synchrony business. Controllership mostly covers Cash Accounting, general accounting, client accounting, reconciliations, closing & reporting, system maintenance, and governance related sub-processes. Every process contributes to our quarterly & annual financial close process and ensure that we have accurate external reporting.

    Role Summary/Purpose:

    The Payroll Accounting Controllership Manager, role & responsible for numerous payroll related accounting activities. The candidate will use analytical skills and general accounting knowledge to apply to various areas related to payroll reconciliation, benefits, tax liabilities, prepaids and benefit related accruals. The responsibilities will also include daily balancing; and daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reconciliations. The role will also be involved in completing various accounting related tasks including various payroll month end close activities, recording manual journal entries (MJE) and quarterly deliverables.

    Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Handling includes monitoring their deliverables, provide feedback & coach team members
  • Prepare assigned daily and month-end account reconciliations.
  • Research and clear all payroll related suspense.
  • Clearing of rec items discovered during reconciliation process.
  • Prepare daily, monthly and quarter-end journals.
  • Perform weekly/biweekly payroll funding validation, matching and reconciliations.
  • Perform automation & simplification projects and other duties as assigned.
  • In addition, for the above areas, identify process improvements and simplification opportunities in Payroll processes. Once identified process improvements, drive the execution of those projects (Controllership Projects) and work with others to drive to completion.

  • Required Skills/Knowledge:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and a minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in the banking or financial Services industry; or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years of experience in the banking or financial services industry.
  • Prior experience in Blackline reconciliation, manual journal entries, month end closing and reporting etc.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Software Skills(Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent organization and follow-up skills
  • Excellent communication skills – both oral and written
  • Ability to execute in a fluctuating environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and customer service

  • People Management skills
  • Preferred 1 to 2 years of Payroll Accounting knowledge.
  • Personal computer proficiency – Microsoft Office product suite.

  • Experience in financial services industry.

  • Eligibility Criteria:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and a minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in the banking or financial Services industry; or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years of experience in the banking or financial services industry.

    5:00 AM to 2:00 PM EST
