Overview

PENNEP is looking for a Market Researcher to support our Client growing EdTech startup focused on providing career-driven certifications and training programs for international students in Canada and India.

This role will focus primarily on analyzing market trends, identifying high-demand certifications, understanding student needs, and providing insights that help shape our course offerings and business strategy.

The ideal candidate is curious, analytical, and passionate about education technology, global learning trends, and skills-based certifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct ongoing research on EdTech industry trends, certification programs, and skill-based learning markets.
  • Identify high-demand certifications and training programs relevant to international students.
  • Analyze emerging trends in online learning, short-term certifications, and career-focused programs.
  • Research the learning needs and career goals of international students in Canada and India.
  • Identify popular programs that support career development and job readiness.
  • Study student preferences related to course format, duration, pricing, and certification value.
  • Analyse competitors offering online certifications and professional development programs.
  • Track pricing strategies, course structures, marketing approaches, and partnerships used by other EdTech providers.
  • Identify opportunities for differentiation in the market.
  • Collect and analyse data from multiple sources such as Google Trends, student forums, industry reports, and social media insights.
  • Prepare research reports and market insights to support leadership in decision-making.
  • Provide recommendations on new course programs and certification offerings.
  • Work closely with product, marketing, and leadership teams to translate market insights into actionable strategies.
  • Support the development of new certification programs aligned with market demand.

  • Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Data Analytics, Education, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in market research, business research, or industry analysis
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Experience using research tools such as Google Trends, Excel, LinkedIn Insights, or industry databases
  • Ability to analyze data and convert insights into actionable recommendations
  • Excellent written and presentation skills
  • Experience in EdTech, online learning, or certification programs is a strong plus

  • Understanding of international student markets
