Responsibilities

Lead and manage the legal department , as core member of the client start up team who has responsibility of setting Australian office in Sydney/ New South Wales .

Real Estate industry exposure a must with prior experience working in Syndney / market - having connects with various city councils, large land bank families & county officials , worked previously with known real estate attorneys . Experience in inhouse documentation check,

Play advisory to management on local , State , Federal laws and compliances proactively .

Exposure to land entitlement checks , acquisition , Title commitments check , Entitlements and government liaison .

Develop and implement legal strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Negotiate and draft complex agreements, including construction contracts, real estate acquisitions, and financing arrangements.

Advise on regulatory matters, zoning issues, land use permits, and environmental compliance.

Handle litigation and legal disputes, including managing relationships with external counsel as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in Sydney /New South Wales/ Australia .Pan Australia exposure is big plus

Experience in legal side of development and exposure to Joint venture (JV ) + Real Estate- construction industry exposure a must . Exposure to foreign investment laws a big plus .

Minimum 8+ years of legal experience, MNC exposure to with consistent stints with significant expertise in construction law, real estate transactions, and development projects as inhouse counsel . Prior green/ Brown field exposure and experience in manage JV contracts , land acquisition ,entitlement check and government affairs - liaison a big plus. Prior exposure in working with Asian or overseas companies who had set up their Australian subsidiary in Sydney/ New South Wales is a big plus .
