Role Overview
We're looking for a seasoned WordPress developer (4 + years of hands-on experience) who can take ownership of the entire WordPress lifecycle—from scoping and architecture through deployment and optimization. You will collaborate closely with UI/UX designers, digital marketers, and backend engineers to deliver high-performance, secure, and SEO-friendly web experiences for our clients and internal products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Theme & Plugin Development
• Build custom themes from Figma/Adobe XD mock-ups using modern standards (Gutenberg blocks, React/JSX).
• Create/extend plugins using OOP PHP and WordPress APIs.
• Maintain and refactor legacy themes/plugins for performance/security.
• Site Architecture & Performance
• Determine optimal hosting, caching, and CI/CD workflows.
• Implement database-efficient queries and object caching (Redis/Memcached).
• Conduct Core Web Vitals audits and deliver sub-2 s load times.
• Security & Compliance
• Harden WordPress installs (principle-of-least-privilege, wp-config hardening, WAF rules).
• Manage regular updates, backups, and disaster-recovery runbooks.
• Integrate third-party APIs (REST/GraphQL), payment gateways, CRM/Marketing platforms.
• Build headless/decoupled WordPress setups when appropriate.
• Collaboration & Mentoring
• Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and cross-functional design discussions.
• Guide junior developers and enforce coding best practices (PSR-12, ESLint).
• Documentation & QA
• Write technical documentation, release notes, and user manuals.
• Coordinate automated and manual testing (PHPUnit, Cypress, BrowserStack).

Must-Have Skills & Experience:

• 4–7 years of professional WordPress development (custom themes & plugins).
• Strong PHP 8 +, MySQL/MariaDB, HTML5, CSS3/Sass, JavaScript (ES6 +, jQuery, React basics).
• Experience with Gutenberg block development and modern tooling (Webpack, Vite, npm/Yarn).
• Deep understanding of WordPress hooks, WP-CLI, Composer, and REST API.
• Proven track record optimizing Core Web Vitals and achieving high Lighthouse scores.
• Version control with Git (GitFlow or trunk-based), code review via GitHub/GitLab.
• Comfortable on Linux/Unix, Nginx/Apache administration, SSL/TLS configuration.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to ship under tight deadlines.

Nice-to-Have:

• Exposure to headless CMS architectures (Next.js, Gatsby, Astro).
• WooCommerce customization and performance tuning.
• Experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with DevOps pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines).
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA).

Educational & Other Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Strong English communication—verbal & written—for client demos and documentation.
