About the Role

We are seeking an experienced International Trade Specialist with strong knowledge of the textile and apparel industry to manage global trade operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and support export/import activities across international markets. The ideal candidate will have expertise in trade documentation, textile classification, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), and global sourcing within the fashion and garment sector.

Key Responsibilities International Trade & Compliance
  • Manage end-to-end export and import operations for textile yarns, fabrics, garments, and apparel products.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and country-specific textile import/export policies.
  • Classify textile and garment products using accurate HS codes.
  • Prepare and review documentation including:
  • Commercial Invoices
  • Packing Lists
  • Bills of Lading / Airway Bills
  • Certificates of Origin
  • GSP documentation
  • LC documentation
  • Monitor trade sanctions, quota restrictions, and labeling requirements in destination countries.

  • Export & Logistics Coordination
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, CHA agents, and shipping lines.
  • Handle shipment scheduling, container planning, and cost optimization.
  • Track shipments and resolve customs clearance issues.
  • Ensure on-time delivery to international buyers and retail chains.

  • Trade Agreements & Market Support
  • Utilize Free Trade Agreements (FTA), GSP benefits, and duty drawback schemes to optimize export benefits.
  • Analyze tariff structures for key markets (USA, EU, UK, Middle East, etc.).
  • Support international buyer audits and compliance checks.
  • Monitor global textile trade trends and advise management on new opportunities.

  • Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination
  • Liaise with buyers, sourcing teams, production units, and compliance departments.
  • Coordinate with government bodies (DGFT, Customs, Export Promotion Councils).
  • Support documentation for trade finance, letters of credit (LC), and banking compliance.
  • Maintain accurate trade records and audit-ready documentation.

  • Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Textile Management, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in international trade within the textile/apparel industry.
  • Strong understanding of textile product classification and export incentives.
  • Knowledge of Incoterms (latest version).
  • Familiarity with trade compliance standards and global labeling requirements.
  • Experience with ERP systems and export documentation software.
  • Strong analytical and coordination skills.

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience handling exports to USA/EU markets.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and compliance standards (e.g., social compliance, product compliance).
  • Understanding of buyer compliance requirements in apparel retail chains.
  • Certification in International Trade or Export Management.
