What you will do

The Global IT Quality Assurance and Support Engineer – Production Applications ensures high-quality and stable operation of production-related IT applications across tesa’s global manufacturing network. This role blends Quality Assurance (QA), Test Management, Automation, and Operational Support to safeguard reliability, performance, and compliance of platforms such as MES, digital maintenance tools, and smaller production applications. The engineer helps shape global QA standards, executes QA processes, and supports continuous improvements.
  • Quality Assurance & Test Management (Primary Focus)
  • Lead and execute QA activities for production applications including regression, functional, integration, and performance testing.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute automated test suites (autotesting), ensuring scalable and repeatable quality controls.
  • Define and manage QA documentation (test plans, test cases, acceptance criteria, test scripts).
  • Support QA governance by standardizing processes across global operations.
  • Ensure quality compliance in releases, deployments, change requests, and maintenance cycles.
  • Application Support & Operations
  • Operate and monitor core production applications (e.g., MES, digital maintenance tools, low-code solutions).
  • Manage lifecycle activities: updates, release packaging, configuration, system checks, and environment validations.
  • Troubleshoot system and integration issues, analyze logs and data flows, and collaborate with global teams to implement sustainable fixes.
  • Ensure system availability, performance, and data accuracy across plants.
  • ITSM Processes (Incident, Change, Problem Management)
  • Handle support tickets per ITSM/ITIL processes, ensuring timely and high-quality resolution.
  • Perform structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and align on long-term fixes.
  • Support change management: risk assessments, testing activities, deployment readiness, and validation.
  • Maintain documentation and knowledge articles for both QA and support topics.
  • Support for Smaller Production Applications
  • Act as responsible support engineer for selected smaller production applications used by operations.
  • Execute onboarding, configuration, permissions, QA testing, and update coordination for these systems.
  • Ensure consistent service quality by applying the same QA controls used for larger systems.
  • Project Participation
  • Contribute to cross-functional global IT projects, including rollouts, enhancements, and system upgrades.
  • Ensure QA readiness in all phases: requirement analysis, testing, UAT, go-live, and handover to operations.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT, technical leads, and external vendors.

  • What you will need

    Educational Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Fluent in English; German is a plus.

  • Relevant Experience
  • Minimum of 3 +years of professional experience supporting or implementing production IT applications (e.g. MES, production planning, plant maintenance tools, recipe management, labelling software, shift planning), preferably in a global production environment context.
  • Experience testing production-related IT applications (MES, ERP, shop floor systems).
  • Exposure to SAP integration topics (SAP PP/PM/MM beneficial).
  • Hands-on experience in ITSM (incident, change, problem management).
  • Experience supporting operational IT systems in manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge in digital maintenance systems or MES platforms is a plus.
  • Exposure to low-code platforms is a plus

  • Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in test automation tools (e.g. Tricentis test & Tosca, Selenium, Cypress, Robot Framework, or similar).
  • Understanding of APIs, system integrations, SAP/MES interfaces, and data flows.
  • Competence in analyzing logs, executing structured troubleshooting, and validating system changes.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines is a strong plus.
