## Electrical Engineer I

- IVD Instruments R&D

As an Electrical Engineer I at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll join a collaborative team developing advanced instrumentation that helps make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. Working within our R&D division focused on in vitro diagnostics instruments, you'll contribute to projects ranging from laboratory equipment to analytical instruments, partnering closely with cross-functional R&D teams to design and optimize electrical and electronic systems.

Your day-to-day work will involve hands-on circuit design, prototyping, testing, and documentation while receiving mentorship to grow your technical expertise. You'll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to meaningful projects that directly impact global healthcare and scientific advancement. This is an entry-level position that offers excellent opportunities to develop your engineering skills in a supportive, collaborative environment.

## What You'll Need

A Bachelor's Degree is required, with no prior experience necessary in electrical engineering. We're looking for candidates with a background in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, though your strongest qualification will be a solid foundation in electrical and electronics engineering fundamentals.

You should be proficient in circuit design and simulation tools, with hands-on experience in both analog and digital circuit design. The ability to read, create, and modify electrical schematics and PCB layouts is essential. You'll need knowledge of testing protocols and experience using standard test equipment including oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, and voltmeters.

Familiarity with communication protocols such as USB, RS232, Ethernet, and Modbus is important for this role. You should understand regulatory requirements including EMC and safety standards relevant to instrument design. Strong skills in component selection and BOM management are expected, along with excellent documentation abilities for technical specifications and design artifacts.

Experience with SPICE modeling and circuit simulation tools will be valuable. Beyond the technical requirements, we need someone with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities who can communicate clearly and collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment. Fluency in English is required.

Basic programming knowledge in C/C++ is preferred, and experience with FPGA design and HDL programming would be a plus.
