Role Overview:

As a Copywriter at MeantToBe, you will be the voice and vibe of the brand. We’re looking for someone who is genuinely funny on the internet - not “corporate funny,” but the kind of person whose tweets land, whose group chat energy is unmatched, and who can turn a dating insight into a post that gets screenshotted and shared. You understand pop culture deeply, not just what’s trending, but why it’s trending, and you can channel that into a copy that feels native to every platform. From razor-sharp social captions and scroll-stopping ad copy to small scripts for reels, sketches, and brand films, you’ll craft words that make people feel seen, laugh out loud, and hit download. Working across teams, you’ll shape a verbal identity that’s witty, warm, and culturally plugged-in.

Key Responsibilities:

Social Media & Internet-Native Copy:
  • Write scroll-stopping, share-worthy copy for Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube, and emerging platforms - captions, carousels, threads, community replies, and real-time cultural commentary.
  • Develop and own the brand’s social voice: witty, relatable, self-aware, and never try-hard.
  • Ideate viral content formats, meme-driven copy, and reactive posts that insert the brand into cultural conversations.
  • Create content calendars that balance planned campaigns with room for spontaneous, trending-moment content.

  • Scriptwriting & Short-Form Content:
  • Write short scripts for Instagram Reels, TikTok Videos, YouTube Shorts, brand sketches, influencer briefs, and creator collaborations.
  • Develop scripts for small brand films, testimonial-style videos, and product explainer content.
  • Bring a strong sense of comedic timing, dialogue, and visual storytelling to every script - even a 15-second reel should have a punchline.

  • Pop-Culture & Trend-Driven Writing:
  • Stay obsessively plugged into pop culture, internet trends, dating discourse, meme cycles, and the broader cultural conversation around love, loneliness, and connection.
  • Translate cultural moments into brand-relevant copy and campaign ideas at speed.
  • Understand the nuance of writing for different audiences and platforms.

  • Brand Voice & Campaign Copy:
  • Help define and evolve the brand’s tone of voice, messaging guidelines, and verbal identity.
  • Write compelling copy for integrated campaigns - digital, social, OOH, and video - ensuring every word works with the visual.
  • Craft taglines, slogans, and brand narratives that capture what makes us different.

  • Product & In-App Copy:
  • Write clear, delightful microcopy for the app - onboarding flows, notifications, prompts, error messages, and feature launches.
  • Partner with Product and UX teams to ensure in-app language is intuitive, warm, and on-brand.
  • Growth & Performance Copy:
  • Write and iterate on ad copy for Meta, Google, App Store, and programmatic channels.
  • A/B test headlines, CTAs, and hooks to optimize for conversions and engagement.
  • Collaborate with Growth Marketing to produce high-performing creative at scale without losing brand voice.

  • Who You Are:
  • Experience: 3-7 years as a copywriter
  • Creative Identity: This is not a role where you write from a template. This is for a genuine internet native - someone with a personal or professional portfolio (or both) that proves they can write things people actually want to read, share, and remember.

  • Scriptwriter: Comfortable writing short scripts for video content - reels, sketches, brand films, with a strong sense of narrative, dialogue, and pacing.
