Background of the projectIn support of building state leadership in sustainable agriculture, FOLU India aims to create an enabling ecosystem within the government of Madhya Pradesh by synergizing existing public policies and ongoing civil society initiatives, thereby managing the transition for systemic change. FOLU India is looking for a consultant who can coordinate with the Department of Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development, Government of Madhya Pradesh (GoMP), to fulfill the objectives of the project. This assignment will include field travel as per the requirement.Responsibilities The following is the scope of work for the consultant:Government CoordinationBe the focal contact point for the MP-SAP-SPA program in Madhya Pradesh, jointly being implemented by FOLU India and WRI India.Act as a communication bridge between FOLU India team and government officialsCoordinate with different stakeholders, including the Department of Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development, Government of Madhya Pradesh (DFW&AD, GoMP); Panchayati institutions; civil society organizations; the private sector; and experts to align priorities, drive implementation, and advance agreed agendas and activities.Facilitate LoAs, and official approvals with government departmentsField-level coordinationCoordinate with district officialsAssist in mobilizing government participation in project activitiesPolicy & Program AlignmentTrack, analyze, and synthesize relevant subnational government policies, schemes, and guidelines related to sustainable agriculture, rural development, and climate action.Representation & CommunicationRepresent the FOLU India in government meetings, consultations, and workshops under the guidance of the project managers.Relationship ManagementBuild trust-based, long-term relationships with government officialsEnsure regular follow-ups and timely resolution of issuesHandle sensitive discussions with professionalism and discretionProgram documentation and complianceSupport preparation and submission of concept notes, proposals, and progress reportsEnsure compliance with government protocols, formats, and timelinesQualifications and experience we seek:Masters degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, Environmental Studies, Public Policy, or related fieldsMinimum 6 years of experience in government liaising, agriculture programs, or rural development projectsExperience of working with multiple stakeholders, especially NGOs and government departments, is highly desirableStrong understanding of Indias agriculture system and administrative structures, along with familiarity with sustainable agriculture, climate-smart, or natural farming practicesHigh integrity and respect for government protocolsHighly motivated, proactive work style and excellent organizational skills.Alignment with FOLU Indias mission values.Fluency in spoken and written Hindi and English.Excellent interpersonal communication skills.Ability to travel.Remuneration: Commensurate with the skills and experiences of the selected candidate.Location: Bhopal, Madhya PradeshPosition full-time consultancy (initial contract of 6 months) All applications are to be sent to folu.india@folu.org.
