Job Description – Commis (Tandoor / Indian / Dosa)

Position: Commis Chef
Department: Kitchen
Reports To: CDP / Sous Chef / Head Chef

Job Summary:
We are looking for a passionate Commis Chef (Tandoor / Indian / Dosa) who will assist in the preparation and cooking of authentic Indian dishes including tandoor items and South Indian dosa preparations. The candidate should maintain food quality, hygiene standards, and support the kitchen team in daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparation and cooking of tandoor dishes such as kebabs, naan, roti, and other clay oven items.
  • Prepare South Indian dishes including dosa batter, dosa varieties, uttapam, and accompaniments like chutneys and sambar.
  • Ensure proper marination, portioning, and cooking of food items.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen according to food safety standards.
  • Support senior chefs in food preparation and mise en place.
  • Monitor stock levels and inform seniors about shortages.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of ingredients.
  • Follow kitchen SOPs and maintain quality consistency.
  • Assist in maintaining kitchen equipment, especially the tandoor and dosa station.

  • Requirements:
  • 1–3 years of experience as Commis Chef / Kitchen Assistant in Indian kitchen.
  • Basic knowledge of tandoor cooking and South Indian cuisine.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Good understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Team player with willingness to learn.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
