Job Description:

Preoperative Evaluation: Conduct thorough preoperative assessments of patients scheduled for cardiac surgeries, including reviewing medical histories, conducting physical examinations, and ordering necessary tests to ensure patients are optimized for surgery.

Anesthesia Planning: Develop individualized anesthesia plans for patients undergoing cardiac procedures based on their medical condition, surgical requirements, and any preexisting health concerns.

Anesthesia Administration: Administer anesthesia during cardiac surgeries, including monitoring patients' vital signs, adjusting anesthesia levels as needed, and ensuring patients remain stable throughout the procedure.

Pain Management: Manage postoperative pain for cardiac surgery patients through various techniques such as epidurals, nerve blocks, and intravenous medications, ensuring patients are comfortable and pain-free during their recovery.

Critical Care: Provide intensive care management for patients immediately following cardiac surgeries, monitoring for complications, managing hemodynamics, and ensuring optimal recovery in the critical care unit.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with cardiac surgeons, perfusionists, nurses, and other members of the cardiac surgical team to coordinate care, optimize patient outcomes, and ensure the safe and efficient delivery of cardiac anesthesia services.

Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergency situations, including cardiac arrests or other intraoperative complications, by providing prompt intervention and stabilization to ensure patient safety.

Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of anesthesia care provided, including anesthesia plans, intraoperative monitoring data, and postoperative management, in accordance with hospital protocols and regulatory requirements.

Continuing Education: Stay current with advancements in cardiac anesthesia practice through participation in conferences, seminars, and continuing education activities, ensuring knowledge and skills are up-to-date to provide the highest quality of care to patients.

Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the cardiac anesthesia department and collaborate with colleagues to identify opportunities for enhancing patient care, safety, and outcomes.
