Bandsaw Operator – Job Description

A Bandsaw Operator (Band Saw Machine Operator) is responsible for cutting metal, wood, or other materials using a band saw machine. They ensure materials are cut accurately according to required sizes and shapes.

Main Duties:

1. Operating Band Saw Machine

• Set up and operate the band saw cutting machine.
• Cut materials like metal bars, pipes, plates, or wood to the required size.

2. Reading Measurements

• Read drawings, work orders, or measurement specifications.
• Mark the material before cutting.

3. Material Handling

• Place and secure materials properly on the machine.
• Use clamps or vices to hold materials safely.

4. Checking Cutting Accuracy

• Measure cut pieces using tools such as:
• Measuring tape
• Vernier caliper
• Steel scale

5. Machine Maintenance

• Check the band saw blade condition.
• Replace worn or damaged blades when necessary.
• Keep the machine clean and lubricated.

6. Safety Practices

• Follow safety procedures.
• Wear safety gloves, goggles, and protective equipment while working.

Qualification:

• ITI in Fitter / Turner / Machinist (preferred)

Average Salary (India):

• ₹13,000 – ₹14,500 per month for freshers
