Call for Applications: Assistant Professor (Public Policy)

The School of Law, Governance and Public Policy (SLGPP) at Chanakya University, Bengaluru invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Public Policy from early- to mid-career scholars with strong academic training and demonstrated potential in teaching, research, and policy engagement.

SLGPP seeks faculty members who can contribute to building a vibrant interdisciplinary environment that integrates perspectives from law, governance, political economy, development studies, and public policy. The position provides an opportunity for scholars to engage in innovative teaching, collaborative research, and institution-building within a growing academic ecosystem.

Role and Responsibilities

The Assistant Professor will be expected to:
  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in public policy, including core and elective subjects.
  • Contribute to the development of interdisciplinary curricula and new academic programmes in governance and public policy.
  • Conduct high-quality research and publish in reputed academic journals and edited volumes.
  • Mentor students and guide policy research projects, dissertations, and applied policy assignments.
  • Participate in policy labs, workshops, conferences, and academic events organised by the school.
  • Contribute to institution-building activities, including academic administration, outreach, and collaborative initiatives.

  • Eligibility:

    Applicants should possess:
  • A PhD in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Development Studies, Law, or a closely related discipline from a recognized university.
  • Min 1 year experience in relevant role.
  • Evidence of scholarly publications or strong research potential.
  • Demonstrated ability or potential for effective teaching and student mentorship.
  • Engagement with policy debates, governance challenges, or applied policy research will be an advantage.
