Assembly Fitter – Job Description

1. Reading Technical Drawings

• Study engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Understand how different parts should be assembled.

2. Assembling Parts

• Fit and assemble machine components, tools, or equipment.
• Use hand tools like spanners, screwdrivers, wrenches, and measuring tools.

3. Aligning and Adjusting Parts

• Check alignment of parts.
• Adjust or modify components to ensure proper fitting.

4. Testing and Inspection

• Test assembled parts or machines.
• Ensure everything works properly and meets quality standards.

5. Repair and Maintenance

• Repair defective parts.
• Replace worn-out components when needed.

6. Using Measuring Instruments

• Use tools like:
• Vernier caliper
• Micrometer
• Dial gauge
• Measuring tape

7. Safety and Quality Control

• Follow safety procedures.
• Maintain quality standards during assembly.

Skills Required

• Mechanical knowledge
• Ability to read technical drawings
• Good hand-tool skills

• Basic problem-solving

Qualification

• ITI in Fitter / Mechanical trade (most common)
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (sometimes preferred)

Average Salary (India)
