Job Title - Area Sales Manager- FMCG

Key Responsibilities

Modern Trade (MT):
  • Develop and implement sales strategies for modern trade accounts (large-format retail chains, supermarkets, e-commerce, etc.).
  • Negotiate and manage terms with key accounts including listings, margins, promotions, and visibility.
  • Build strong relationships with category managers, buyers, and modern trade partners.
  • Monitor and analyse sales performance, market trends, and competitor activities to identify opportunities.
  • Ensure timely execution of in-store activations, promotions, and merchandising.

  • Exports:
  • Identify, develop, and manage international markets and distributors for FMCG products.
  • Handle export documentation, compliance, and coordination with logistics/shipping partners.
  • Expand presence in targeted countries through partnerships, trade fairs, and distribution networks.
  • Achieve sales targets and ensure profitability in export markets.
  • Ensure compliance with international quality, packaging, and regulatory standards.

  • General:
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets across both channels.
  • Lead and mentor a sales team for effective execution.
  • Work closely with marketing, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and presentations for management review.

  • Required Skills & Experience
  • Education: MBA/PGDM in Sales & Marketing (preferred) or Graduate with strong FMCG background.
  • Experience: Minimum 8 to 10 years in FMCG sales with significant exposure to modern trade and export markets .
  • Must have established relationships with Dmart, Reliance, and other modern trade accounts.
  • Strong negotiation, key account management, and distributor handling skills.
  • Knowledge of export procedures, documentation, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and achieve ambitious sales targets.
