About the job: You are a dynamic AI/Data Scientist interested in challenging the status quo to ensure development and impact of Opella´s AI solutions for the patients of tomorrow. You influence and guide both technical direction and stakeholders, bringing expertise in DS/ML/AI with high-quality lifecycle management. You identify improvement opportunities, build production-ready solutions, and thrive in cross-functional, multi-technology environments. Main responsibilities: Apply expertise in machine learning, statistics, NLP/text-mining, forecasting, optimization, and Generative AI across multiple analytics projects. Own the full end-to-end lifecycle, from POC to MLOps deployment. Use data visualization, storytelling, and analytical frameworks to scope, define, and deliver AI-based data products. Build models, algorithms, simulations, and experiments using high-quality, optimized code. Execute the full spectrum of ML activities: experimentation → productionization → maintenance. Collaborate closely with product teams, engineers, developers, and MLOps to deliver scalable solutions. Hands-on AI/ML modeling experience of complex datasets combined with strong understanding of theoretical foundations of AI/ML. Establish and drive data hygiene best practice to ensure coherence and integrity of data feeding into production ML/AI solutions. Collaborate with colleagues across science and engineering disciplines for fast turnaround proof-of-concept prototyping at scale. Project management skills focused on data science and machine learning operations. Expertise within most of the following areas: supervised learning, unsupervised learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, federated learning, time series forecasting, Bayesian statistics, optimization Experience developing deployable code and deploying models in product-focused development under an agile environment Comfortable working in cloud and high-performance computing environments (e.g. AWS, GCP, Databricks, Azure) Experience in production-ready software development Excellent written and verbal communication, business analysis, data visualization and data storytelling skills A demonstrated ability to work and collaborate in a team environment Previous experience developing data science projects for common business areas such as Marketing, Manufacturing and Supply, Finance,… Nice to have: Experience in life sciences and healthcare and experience in a complex global organization About you: Educational Background: Degree, Master and/or PhD in mathematics, computer science, engineering, physics, statistics, economics, or a related quantitative discipline with strong coding skills, OR Master’s Degree in relevant domain with 6+ years of analytical experience Data science skills: Forecasting, optimization, recommender systems, supervised/unsupervised learning, NLP, and GenAI Programming Skills: Expertise in Python, or Scala. Strong knowledge of OOP, coding standards, version control, testing, and software engineering best practices. Experience in production-ready software development. Experience with GenAI Experience with RAG workflows, agentic frameworks, vector databases, prompt engineering, and LLMs. CI/CD : Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines for data science projects. Experience automating build/test/deployment for ML models and data pipelines. Ability to integrate CI/CD into ML workflows to ensure reproducibility and scalability. Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar. Understanding of version control applied to code, data, and model artifacts. Experience orchestrating model versioning, validation, and deployment through automated pipelines. MLOPs: Demonstrated experience implementing MLOps practices for operationalizing ML models. Ability to build automated workflows for training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring. Experience integrating ML into CI/CD and production environments. Familiarity with MLflow, Kubeflow, TFX, or similar tooling. Knowledge of infrastructure requirements for deploying and scaling models (cloud or on-prem). Ability to collaborate effectively with DevOps teams. Data Visualization Tools: Knowledge of tools like Tableau, Power BI, Plotly, or similar. API Experience: Experience with various enterprise-level APIs for integration purposes. Generative AI: RAG workflows, experience in agentic framworks, vector databases, prompt engineering and LLMs. Other skills and competencies: Strong English communication; Spanish and French are a plus. Analytical, engineering-oriented mindset with focus on quality and reliability. Highly effective in remote working conditions. Able to balance technical excellence with business deadlines.
