Role Overview:
As an Accounting Specialist at Elchemy, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Finance team by managing daily accounting operations and ensuring statutory compliance. Your responsibilities will include recording financial transactions, maintaining ledgers, reconciling accounts, handling accounts payable/receivable, and assisting with month-end closing processes. Additionally, you will be involved in preparing statutory returns, maintaining compliance records, and collaborating with external auditors and regulatory authorities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Accounting Operations
Record and process daily financial transactions in the accounting system.
Maintain accurate ledgers, journals, and supporting documentation.
Perform daily bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies.

- Accounts Payable & Receivable
Manage the full cycle of accounts payable: review, verify, and process vendor invoices for timely payments.
Monitor accounts receivable, record receipts, and follow up on outstanding customer payments.

- Financial Reporting & Month-End Closing
Assist in preparing periodic financial reports and schedules.
Support month-end close processes, including accruals and adjustments.
Provide financial data analysis as required by finance leadership.

- Statutory Compliance
Prepare and file statutory returns such as GST, TDS, PT & PF within prescribed timelines.
Maintain statutory records and documentation for compliance and audit purposes.
Ensure compliance deadlines are met to avoid penalties or delays.

- Regulatory & Audit Support
Coordinate with external auditors during statutory and internal audits.
Organize necessary documentation for audit reviews.
Assist in filings under corporate law and maintenance of statutory registers.

- Internal Controls & Process Improvement
Adhere to internal accounting controls and standard operating procedures.
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications Required:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 14+ years of prior accounting experience, preferably with exposure to statutory compliance.
- Understanding of accounting principles, ledgers, and reconciliations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, ERP/Finance systems) and MS Excel.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and organizational skills.
- Good communication skills for interaction with internal teams, vendors, and auditors.
