The Head of Department (HOD) – Fashion Designing is responsible for leading and managing the academic, creative, and administrative activities of a fashion design department in an institute, college, or university.

1. Academic Leadership
  • Plan and develop the fashion designing curriculum according to industry trends.
  • Ensure high-quality teaching in subjects like garment construction, textile science, fashion illustration, draping, and fashion marketing.
  • Guide faculty members in teaching methods and course delivery.
  • Monitor students’ academic performance and project work.

  • 2. Faculty Management
  • Recruit, train, and mentor faculty members.
  • Assign teaching workload and responsibilities.
  • Conduct faculty meetings and performance evaluations.
  • Encourage faculty participation in research, workshops, and fashion events.

  • 3. Student Development
  • Guide students in fashion collections, portfolios, and fashion shows.
  • Provide career guidance and mentorship.
  • Support students in internships, competitions, and exhibitions.
  • Handle student issues related to academics or discipline.

  • 4. Industry Collaboration
  • Build connections with fashion houses, designers, and garment industries.
  • Arrange guest lectures, workshops, and industry visits.
  • Develop internship and placement opportunities for students.

  • 5. Administrative Responsibilities
  • Prepare department budgets and manage resources.
  • Maintain academic records, reports, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with college management and other departments.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional and accreditation standards.

  • 6. Event and Project Management
  • Organize fashion shows, exhibitions, and design competitions.
  • Supervise final-year projects and design collections.
  • Promote department activities through events and collaborations.

  • 7. Research and Innovation
  • Encourage research in fashion trends, textiles, and sustainable fashion.
  • Publish papers, attend conferences, and lead innovation projects.

  • ✅ Qualification (Typical Requirements):
  • Master’s degree in Fashion Designing or Fashion Technology.
  • 5–10 years of teaching/industry experience.
  • Strong leadership, creativity, and organizational skills.

  • Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹65,000.00 per month
